The Knesset's Ministerial Committee for Matters of the Arab Population, lead by Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, met on Monday morning to discuss the reckless driving rampant in the Arab population.
Participating in the meeting were Social Equality Minister Gila Gamliel (Likud) and Economy Minister Eli Cohen (Kulanu).
Netanyahu discussed the recent video of an Israeli Bedouin shooting an automatic weapon while driving.
"We have one country, and that goes for both opportunities and the law," Netanyahu said. "The law applies to everyone, and we are not willing to suffer violations of the law. We will act against violations of the law, like I ordered the Public Security Minister to do, and we will act against calamities and against shootings."
In January, Samaria Regional Council Head Yossi Dagan called on the government to act immediately to improve infrastructure on Judea and Samaria's roads.
"Unfortunately, both we and the Samaria Region police have been working for a long time to get additional traffic policemen and to increase enforcement on the roads in Samaria, and our many requests were simply not answered. Unfortunately, we see berserk driving by Arabs in the entire area," he said.
"Traffic police are almost nonexistent and there's not enough emphasis on enforcement, the wild driving of local Arab drivers, and education for a new driving culture which could have saved both the lives of the Arabs and the lives of Jews."
"People drive on these roads like madmen, mainly the Arabs, besides that fact that the roads aren't in good condition. The Arabs drive like maniacs," Knesset Constitution, Law, and Justice Committee Chairman MK Nissan Slomiansky (Jewish Home) said then.
