IDF forces have been operating since last night in Shechem, Balata and Kalkilye in an ongoing effort to prevent terrorists from leaving those cities for attacks in Israeli-controlled areas. Forces in Shechem came under fire last night and a pipe bomb was detonated against an armored vehicle as the units entered Balata, but there are no reports of injuries to Israeli soldiers. An explosives lab was discovered and destroyed, and the troops arrested six wanted suspects, including local Fatah leader Isam Abu Baaker. The operations in Balata are being carried out primarily with reserve units.

In an operation near Gush Katif in Gaza during the night, IDF forces captured 23 wanted suspects. In their possession were various weapons, and two of the terrorists were captured en route to an attack in a Gush Katif community.
