The Yisrael Beiteinu party and its leader, Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman, are initiating legislation that will prevent left-wing activists from filming and harassing soldiers and then publishing the footage.
News 2 reported that under the new legislation, passed following the distribution of a video in which radical left-wing activists are seen harassing IDF soldiers near the Gaza border and calling them terrorists, a bill was proposed stipulating anyone who videotapes IDF soldiers in the course of their duty in order to harm the spirit of the IDF will receive five years in prison.
This is a bill that the defense minister has been considering for many months and recently instructed Knesset faction chairman MK Robert Ilatov to submit it.
The new bill states that the harmful content on social networks will be prohibited from being disseminated and transmitted to the media.
Sources in Yisrael Beiteinu said that it was time to put an end to the activities of left-wing organizations, which for days filmed an IDF soldier in order to help delegitimize the State of Israel.
