Two people were killed when a train struck their vehicle Saturday night.
The vehicle apparently broke into the Ramla train track area and tried to crossed the tracks, but was cut in two by the speeding train.
Two others were injured in the incident. They were trapped under the railway carriages unconscious, one in critical condition.
The Assaf Harofeh Medical Center reported that the first trauma patient, a 30-year-old man, arrived in the trauma room in very serious condition with his leg severed.
No passengers on the train were injured. Another train was sent to evacuate the passengers.
Due to the incident and in accordance with the instructions of the Israel Police, the line between Lod and Beit Shemesh is closed to rail traffic and the trains will begin and end their journeys at the Lod station.
