Knesset Member Eitan Cabel (Yesh Atid) decried criticism of IDF operations at the Gaza border to protect Israeli sovereignty in the face of Hamas-inspired riots there in recent days. For example, popular Army Radio pundit Koby Meidan came under fire for writing he is "embarrassed to be Israeli" after the IDF killed 17 Gazans, including 10 Hamas gunmen, during Friday's violence next to the Gaza-Israel border fence.

Meidan's words caused an outcry, with many journalists wondering why a pundit expressing anti-IDF sentiments works for an IDF radio station.

MK Cabel posted his reaction to such outbursts on his Facebook page. "I was angry this Sabbath as I hadn't been angry for years. The attack on IDF soldiers defending the Gaza border shook me.

"Calls to establish a commission of inquiry and attacks on IDF soldier's activities are shameful, embarrassing, and outrageous. I'm sure if I were part of the force I'd have acted at least as much as they did.

"For G-d's sake, who are you blaming and who are you complaining about? We left Gaza unilaterally and didn't have a day of quiet. Only rockets, bombs, and shootings were forthcoming from them, and they tried the same with their march. Incessant terror.

"No more texts that are pulled from the drawer in what has become a regular ritual of those who refuse to look reality in the eyes - who will trust those who react and conduct themselves in a manner detached from reality?

"We're not discussing a peace process, we're discussing our right to live in this country with security, and this is about the violation of our sovereignty. There's a red line that mustn't be crossed."
