IDF soldiers arrested on Thursday morning two suspects who crossed the border fence from southern Gaza into Israeli territory.

The suspects, who were armed with knives and bolt cutters, were transferred to security forces for questioning.

The incident is the latest in a series of attempts by Gazans to infiltrate into Israeli territory.

On Tuesday, three Arab terrorists were apprehended by IDF troops near the Tze’elim army base in southern Israel, after having walked for miles from Gaza. The terrorists were found to be carrying knives and grenades and admitted during interrogation that they had intended to attack soldiers.

On Wednesday, soldiers arrested an unarmed Arab man from Gaza who infiltrated Israeli territory. He was arrested at the Zikim Beach north of Gaza and transferred for interrogation.

Last Saturday, Arabs infiltrated Israel from southern Gaza and tried to damage the engineering tools used to build a barrier against the terror tunnels leading from Gaza to southern Israel. The Arabs fled the scene when IDF soldiers approached them.

Hamas is also planning what has been dubbed “the march of the return” on Friday, in which Gazans are expected to march en masse to the border with Israel.

The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), Major General Yoav Mordechai, warned on Wednesday that the IDF would respond harshly to provocations at the Gaza border during the marches.
