The residents of the Jewish community and representatives of the Harchivi Makom Ohalayich movement entered two buildings adjacent to the Tomb of the Patriarchs on Monday: Beit Rachel and Beit Leah.
The movement says that "with this dwelling we are able to continue, in practice, the path of Abraham our Forefather in the redemption of the Land of Israel.
"In the face of all the challenges and all those who are trying to sever our continued expansion in the city of our forefathers, we declare that on this day, the entire Nation of Israel is taking an historic step in redeeming the Land," the movement said.
"During the Passover holiday 50 years ago, Rabbi Levinger zt"l and his friends, may they live long, Rabbi Druckman and Rabbi Waldman announced that the people of Israel have returned to the city of their forefathers forever. This day we reiterate our call: The People of Israel lives.
"With our entry into Beit Rachel and Beit Leah today, we say to our mother Rachel, 'Still your voice from weeping and the tears from your tears, for there is reward for your actions; and the children shall return to their borders'." (Jeremiah 31:16)
