The IDF has completed its military journalist's course, commanded by journalist Gal Gabai. The course trained young people to work at Army Radio - Galei Tzahal. Summing up after the latest cycle of trainees, Gabai said, "This is a top grade and challenging group who came to this profession out of a desire to be good, people whose ambition is to understand more and to know more in order to act more properly. As far as I'm concerned we're handing over this power which are the airwaves into the right hands."

Gabai added, "The goal is to include more and more parts and shades from the Israeli landscape, and there's no doubt the radio product we provide will certainly be better." The end of the course was attended by the Galei Tzahal Commander Shimon Alkabetz, head of human resources at the station Major Tania Poliak, and members of the graduates' families.

Galei Tzahal is joined by about 20 people in each recruitment cycle chosen to serve in a variety of positions, out of thousands of contestants. The journalists' course at the station lasts about two months. In the course of their training, participants are treated to lectures by Israel's media elites, and undergo workshops for writing and editing, linguistics and Hebrew language. They also participate in professional tours throughout the country.

The 2018 course consisted of 22 members from all groups in Israeli society and from all over the country: Afula, Tel Aviv-Jaffa, Kiryat Tivon, Kfar Saba, Kiryat Motzkin, Givatayim, Rishon LeZion, Nes Tziona, Meitar, Bat Hefer, Kiryat Bialik , Jerusalem, Hashmonaim, Even Yehuda, and Ashdod. Gal Gabai, the course commander, served as the station's correspondent in the south.

Gabai was appointed by Galei Tzahal commander Shimon Alkabetz as part of the policy of strengthening the station's news content with an emphasis on the social fields and poorer areas of the country. Together with Gal Gabai, the course was commanded by Itamar Druckman, Yuval Ungar, and Avia Shackler, who are currently discharged from their military service at the station and are graduates of the course themselves.
