The Knesset Education Committee approved yesterday the final readings of the Public Libraries\' bill proposed by MK Zevulun Orlev (NRP). The bill stipulates that the national government and local municipalities must split the costs of public libraries within the latter\'s boundaries. The bill also charges the relevant minister with establishing additional public libraries. \"The People of the Book must enable easy accessibility to public libraries,\" Orlev said, \"which are a basic cultural service and the educational infrastructure of the public in general and students in particular.\"
