The security cabinet convened this morning to discuss once again how to respond to the latest wave of Palestinian terrorism against the people of Israel. Last night\'s attacks bring to 27 the number of Israelis murdered by terrorists this month. In Washington, too, U.S. President George Bush will convene the National Security Council to discuss the situation in the Middle East. In attendance also will be CIA head George Tenet, who is expected to arrive here next week.
In other war news, the IDF continued apprehending terrorist suspects, including seven in the Bethlehem district and another one near Silat el-Zaher, east of Netanya… Terrorists fired at several IDF posts north of Jerusalem last night; no one was hurt… IDF forces are tightly encircling Kalkilye… Jerusalem, particularly the northern parts thereof, remains under a heightened terror alert. The intelligence community yesterday received word that an Arab driving a car laced with explosives had been dispatched towards the city and would be trying to enter from the north...
