The police have completed their investigation of the Labor Party\'s illegal fund-raising associations of the 1999 elections, and recommend the indictment of four party officials. The four are MK Weizmann Shiri, former Cabinet Secretary Yitzchak Herzog, and two aides to then-Prime Minister Ehud Barak, Atty. Doron Cohen (Barak\'s brother-in-law) and Tal Silberstein. The case against Barak himself has been dropped for lack of evidence.
The charges involve the illegal raising of campaign money via non-profit organizations whose sole purpose was to funnel monies into the campaign.
