Last Friday began as usual for the Magen David Adom (MDA) ambulance team in Modi'in, headed by the ambulance driver and emergency medicine medic Yitzhak Cohen, and the volunteers Noa Oster, Ziv Bamberger, and Shaked Ron-Tal.

That day's shift became a night to remember, however, after two women gave birth in the same ambulance in Modi'in Ilit.

The first birth occurred at approximately 7 a.m. Friday morning, when the ambulance was evacuating a 37-year-old woman to Shaare Zedek Medical Center. The woman gave birth to a baby boy before they reached the hospital.

Just a few hours later at 10 a.m. that same morning, the MDA crew was called to evacuate another woman in labor to the hospital. The 41-year-old mother also gave birth in the ambulance - to a baby girl.

Shaked Ron-Tal, a MDA youth volunteer, described the events: "It was very exciting for me. I feel lucky to have been given the privilege of being part of a team that delivered not just one, but two women's children in one shift. I wish the mothers and their families a lot of good luck, and that we should have many more days like this."
