Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked (Jewish Home) praised this morning the American recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

"This is an important day, it's a victory for the American people," Shaked said. "President Trump gave this important statement, which is important to the American people; Congress supports it, the Democrats and the Republicans support it, so I think it symbolizes the strong connection between the American people and the people of Israel. "

On the anger in the Arab world, Shaked said, "There are always fears, but there is no need to be afraid to do things that are right and true. Trump knew the reality [when he made the announcement].”

In an interview with Army Radio, the Justice Minister was asked whether she believed Trump would use the historic declaration as leverage with Israel. "I do not believe so, the Prime Minister managed this matter very wisely, I do not believe he would pay something we do not want to pay."

Shaked also said she hoped that "other countries will recognize [Jerusalem as Israel's capital] and move their embassies."

Regarding the transfer of the embassy from Tel Aviv, Minister Shaked said, "I believe that the President chose to do so in stages, apparently to reduce the resistance, but I hope that within two or three years we will see the embassy in Jerusalem."
