Iranian authorities sentenced a man accused of collaborating with Israel to death Tuesday.
The authorities claimed that the information he gave to Israeli intelligence agents led to a series of assassinations of senior Iranian nuclear scientists.
"The defendant held a number of meetings with Mossad personnel and provided them with sensitive information about military and nuclear bases," the court said in an official statement.
The Iranian news site Mizanonline.ir claimed that the man, an Iranian doctor who studied and taught in Sweden, provided the Mossad with intelligence on 30 Iranian persona.
At least five Iranian nuclear scientists have been assassinated in recent years by "Israeli assassins," according to Iranian media outlets.
The assassinations were carried out through the planting of car bombs that exploded while the targets were on their way to work.
