Some 200 Arabs living in the port city of Haifa, Israel\'s third-largest city, have signed a petition demanding that one of its most famous streets, Zionism Blvd., be re-named with its pre-1948 name, El Jabel (the mountain). The road climbs from the lower part of the city through an Arab neighborhood, through the middle-level Hadar neighborhood, and up the mountainside through the Bahai Temple area to the Carmel neighborhood. The street was named United Nations Blvd. in 1948, but after the UN voted that \"Zionism is Racism\" [a resolution which it later rescinded], the city decided to rename the street Zionism Blvd. The Arabs, including a City Council member, claim that \"the Zionist movement is racist... It is nerve to name the street after Zionism, particularly in light of the fact that the street is mainly populated by Arabs...\" At least two local taxi drivers told Arutz-7 today that the latter assertion is not true...



Israel\'s military and security budgets will be increased by two billion shekels (almost $480 million). So decided Finance Minister Silvan Shalom together with Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. The money will be allocated to the Defense Ministry, the Public Security Ministry, the Mossad, and the General Security Service...
