Police Commissioner Roni Alsheikh reacted for the first time Monday to the criticism leveled at the police by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu over leaks from his investigations.

At a closed police conference at the Rabin Heritage Center in Tel Aviv, the Police Commissioner told senior members of the organization, "I support the interrogators. I have no doubt that the leaks they're talking about don't come from the police."

He added that the interrogators maintain the integrity of the investigations and their hands are clean. "Only officers who passed vetting sit in this room.I don't know of any organization that has performed such far reaching actions in order to prevent leaks and maintain integrity."

On Saturday night, Netanyahu's associates attacked police conduct."When Alsheikh took over, he made two important promises: There will be no more leaks from the investigations, and there will be no more recommendations from the police. From the time political advisor Lior Horev was appointed an external adviser to the police at a cost of millions,at the taxpayers' expense and without a tender, the illegal leaks have become a tsunami, and the decision to avoid recommendations disappeared as if it never was.

"The public has long understood that there is a clear media campaign against Prime Minister Netanyahu. As in previous investigations, all the allegations against the Prime Minister will prove to be false, and will lead to nothing," the sources said.
