IDF forces over the long holiday weekend thwarted several attacks, including potential Arab suicide bombings. Shin Bet agents were tipped off to the planned attacks by Arabs taken into custody during the recent Operation Defensive Shield.



Acting on terror leads, IDF troops on Thursday entered PLO-controlled Ramallah, and neighboring areas, and arrested dozens of wanted terrorists. Included in those arrested were two men from the Beituniya neighborhood preparing a suicide attack for Jerusalem during the Shavuot holiday. The men had tied to the Hamas terror gang. Also arrested were two Islamic Jihad members, who were planning various attacks.



Also, IDF troops over the weekend returned to Jenin and arrested 24 Arabs suspected of terror activity. Two Arabs apprehended were wanted terrorists who managed to avoid arrest during Operation Defensive Shield. During the weekend offensive in Jenin, gun battles erupted and one IDF soldier was lightly wounded. Troops withdrew from Jenin by Friday afternoon.
