Authorities have identified one of the three Israelis murdered Tuesday morning in a shooting attack at the entrance to Har Adar as 20-year-old Border Police Sergeant Solomon Gavrya, a resident of Beer Yaakov in central Israel.
At 7:14 a.m. Tuesday, Gavrya and two local guards were shot and killed by an Arab terrorist armed with a pistol at the back gate of Har Adar, northwest of Jerusalem.
According to police reports, the terrorist, a 37-year-old father of four, was attempting to enter the town along with a group of Arab workers when he asked by security forces at the scene to halt and be checked for weapons.
As the guards approached him, the terrorist drew a pistol concealed underneath his shirt and opened fire, hitting four Israelis.
Three of the wounded later succumbed to their wounds, while a fourth was evacuated in serious condition to Hadassah Ein Karem Hospital in Jerusalem.
A Border Police spokesperson said Gavrya had enlisted a year and a half ago, and had been serving in the greater Jerusalem area.
Gavrya is survived his parents, two sisters, and a brother.
