Soldiers operating in urban environments, indoors, or underground face challenges beyond the stresses of combat. Communication between command and forces on the ground can be severed when physical obstacles to eye contact, radio, or GPS reception isolate them from each other. These circumstances significantly increase the risk of friendly-fire incidents and forces being kidnapped, abandoned, or lost.
To provide a solution to this common situation, Elbit Systems developed SmarTrack, a system that enables forces to maintain constant contact and situational awareness in environments lacking satellite or radio reception, providing fighters or first response teams with the ability to continually track friendly forces.
Using Radio Frequency (RF) ranging patented technology, SmartTrack gives commanders operating in urban areas, inside buildings. or when GPS signal is jammed, with three-dimensional location of force members and a data link to transmit information and orders between users.
SmartTrack weigh less than 150gr per unit and its signal can be transmitted and read on any device held by a user or commander.
