The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) teamed up with Germany's Marxist-Leninist Party (MLPD) to run for parliament in the upcoming September 24 elections, a German newspaper reported.

Both the US and European Union consider PFLP to be a terror organization. However, since they have not carried out any attacks in Germany, the German government cannot take issue with them.

According to German newspaper Jüdische Allgemeine, MLPD does not believe the PFLP is a terror organization, instead seeing it as being wrongly criminalized.

"We demand the removal of revolutionary and anti-imperialist organizations from these 'terror lists,'" the Jüdische Allgemeine quoted as saying.

MLPD is not part of the current parliament, since it did not receive enough votes to pass the threshold. According to intelligence reports, the party currently has 1,800 members and supporters.

If the joint PFLP-MLPD group does pass the threshold this year, the PFLP would receive German government funds for its terror activities.

German-Israel parliamentary group head and Green Party MP Volker Beck said, "It should not have been allowed to come to this that an anti-Israel terror organization in Germany formed an election alliance and is an election choice. The federal Interior Ministry must quickly act and ban the PFLP."

"Anyone who gives money to the PFLP, is guilty of supporting terrorism abroad. Now they will receive federal campaign funding."
