Samsung launched its new Galaxy Note 8 smartphone in an event in New York Wednesday.

The new 6.3 inch device includes an "infinity display" which allows users to write "from edge to edge" with the included S Pen.

The phone includes a dual camera on the back. The camera consists of two 12MP sensors, one behind an f/1.7 regular lens and the other behind an f/2.4 telephoto lens. Both cameras include optical stabilization.

The Galaxy Note 8 runs on 8 cores and has 6 gigabytes of RAM.

Samsung hopes to restore consumer confidence in its powerful new device following the recall of the Galaxy Note 7 last year. The previous model was recalled after its battery caused a number of phones to catch fire. Israel banned the carrying of the Note 7 model on planes in October, 2016. The South Korean company lost billions of dollars due to the recall.
