Israel announced today that it will dispatch humanitarian assistance to earthquake-stricken Georgia, in the former Soviet Union. Israel will send seven cubic meters of medical equipment, including antibiotics, perishable items, bandages, gloves and other supplies. The consignment is the joint contribution of the Foreign Ministry\'s Center for International Cooperation (MASHAV) and the Ministry of Health. The Israeli Ambassador in Georgia, Ms. Rivka Cohen, will transfer the humanitarian supplies to the local government officials. \"Israel and Georgia enjoy a long-standing friendship,\" the government announced, \"which has been reflected recently through Georgia\'s expression of support for Israel\'s war against terrorism.\"
