US President Donald Trump on Thursday slammed news sources who claimed he had equated the ramming victim with the neo-Nazi who rammed her.

Referring to South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham and the woman killed during the violence, Trump tweeted, "Publicity seeking Lindsey Graham falsely stated that I said there is moral equivalency between the KKK, neo-Nazis & white supremacists.........and people like Ms. Heyer."

"Such a disgusting lie. He just can't forget his election trouncing. The people of South Carolina will remember!

"The public is learning (even more so) how dishonest the Fake News is. They totally misrepresent what I say about hate, bigotry etc. Shame!"

Earlier, Trump had said, "We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence, on many sides. On many sides."

On Saturday, a car plowed into counter-protesters at a Charlottesville, Virginia, rally, killing 32-year-old Heather Heyer and injuring 19 others. As a result, Virginia declared a state of emergency and told the alt-right that they "are not wanted" and should "go home."

However, Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's son Yair, as well as Republicans Overseas Israel Chairman Marc Zell, noted that both sides were violent and deserved to be condemned.
