Israel Police Commissioner Roni Alsheikh arrived in Jerusalem to oversee Israel Police's preparations for the Temple Mount prayers.

Beginning early on Friday morning, Israel Police and Border Police officesrs, together with reinforcements, spread out over Jerusalem in preparations for the expected wave of Arab violence.

The forces placed an emphasis on Jerusalem's Arab neighborhoods, the Old City, and the Temple Mount, aiming to allow thousands of Muslims to pray in peace and security, to preserve public safety, and to direct traffic in the area.

Earlier this morning, Alsheikh, Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan (Likud), Jerusalem Division Commander Yoram Halevi, and other security and defense representatives held a meeting to discuss the special preparations and police operations necessary in order to ensure the safety of Jerusalem's residents and visitors.

During the meeting, Alsheikh said, "Israel Police will continue its mission of preserving Israel's sovereignty and the status quo on the Temple Mount. The situation on the Temple Mount has returned to what it was previously, and we will allow all worshipers who wish to pray to come and do so."

"However, we will not allow this holy site to be used in order to cause disturbances, riot, or clash with the policemen.

"We will act kindly and respectfully towards worshipers, and we will deal harshly with those who riot and incite.

"I call on Arab leaders to show responsibility, work to reduce every type of violence, and prevent incitement which may lead to an escalation no citizens want."

Two weeks ago, three Muslim terrorists murdered two Druze policemen who were standing guard on the Temple Mount. Last Friday, a 19-year-old Muslim terrorist slaughtered three members of the Salomon family and wounded a fourth as the family ate dinner.

Over the past two weeks, Arab leaders called twice for a "day of rage" and protests in and around Jerusalem quickly turned violent.
