A 12-year old girl passed away Tuesday morning at the Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya in northern Israel, after she was severely injured in a car accident in the western Galilee on Monday.

On Monday, the girl’s father, aged 47, and 7-year old brother died shortly after the crash.

The accident occurred on Route 70 in the western Galilee near Avdon, not far from the Lebanese border, when the family’s car collided with a truck.

A total of seven people were injured in the crash, six of them from the Mukhtar family from Kfar Adumim.

Seven-year old Yoel Shalom Mukhtar and his father, Alon, both succumbed to their injuries on Monday. The family’s mother, Sarah, 47, is still fighting for her life in the Galilee Medical Center’s intensive care unit. She is listed in serious condition.

Two additional children, Yonatan, 16, and Aviyah, 14, were less severely injured.

The driver of the truck was lightly injured.

The Mukhtar family’s 11-year old daughter was in a separate car at the time of the accident, and was not injured.

Funerals for the three members of the Mukhtar family killed in the accident will be held in Kfar Adumim on Tuesday, though no specific time for the funerals has been released.

MDA paramedics Rami Marom and Tzfi Zinger said the scene of the accident was “horrifying”.

“When we got there, there was a horrible sight. We saw a crushed car with six family members inside, and a truck next to it.”

“There was a commotion at the scene [of the accident]. A man in his 40s was trapped in the driver’s seat, and next to him was a woman in her 40s who was fully conscious. Outside of the car were four children, ages 8, 12, 14, and 16. Two of the children were unconscious and suffering from multiple injuries, while two others were conscious. We provided life-saving first aid, and after attempts to stabilize their condition, we evacuated the 8-year old in critical condition, the man in his 40s in very serious condition, and the 12-year old girl in serious condition while she was unconscious and suffering multiple injuries.”
