Israel's Ben Gurion International Airport is one of the best in the world, New York-based Travel + Leisure magazine wrote.

The US magazine asked readers to share their opinions on the world's airports, and to rate each one's access, check-in, design, food, security, and shopping. The ten top picks are then featured in the company's annual World's Best Awards publication.

Ben Gurion Airport listed number 8 in the publication's list of "The Top 10 International Airports," falling from sixth place in 2016 and receiving a total rating of 79.40 (out of a possible 100).

Ranked below Israel were Abu Dhabi International (in the UAE) and Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport.

Meanwhile, Singapore's Changi Airport took first place for the fifth year in a row, with a score of 90. The airport offers lounges to nap in, gardens, a rooftop pool, shower rooms, and a movie theater - all free.

2016 saw 18 million passengers pass through Ben Gurion Airport, making it the airport's busiest year ever. The renovated Terminal 1 opened in June, servicing low-cost flights to and from Israel.
