The Education Ministry is calling on local municipalities to join a new plan for after-school programs advanced by the Ministry in accordance with government decisions whereby, as of September 2017, the Education Ministry will subsidize the “nitzanim” program.
The after-school programs subsidized by the Education Ministry will grant study frameworks in the afternoon hours to students in public kindergartens and 1st and 2nd grade, from the end of the school day until 4 p.m.
The base price of the program is to cost 650 shekels a month which will be subsidized in accordance with the “socioeconomic ranking” of the local municipality.
Educational Minister Naftali Bennett said that “The Education Ministry after-school programs are good news for parents and children. They entail family savings of hundreds of shekels every month, and are an excellent solution for parents, who can work in quiet while their children are in a positive and reduced-cost educational environment. I congratulate my friend Finance Minister Kahlon, who, together with me, led this important process which will ease the burden on every family in Israel.
Executive Director of the Education Ministry Shmuel Abuav said that “The Education Ministry continues to widen the variety of educational services, both in order to provide students with a broad educational framework, and to ease the burden on the parents. We broadened summer frameworks, we added assistants, we reduced class-size, and now we’re providing quality afternoon programs at a subsidized price around Israel and to all sectors. This is huge news, both for students and parents.”
