The Knesset cafeteria has been undergoing renovations recently. More than 1000 people eat in the cafeteria daily, but due to the renovations, the food company which runs the cafeteria has been temporarily changed.
After a number of cases in which Knesset members asking for an addition to their portions were turned down, MK Meir Cohen(Yesh Atid) decided to spar with the cafeteria workers.
According to an Army Radio interview, Cohen told them: "If I were the Knesset speaker, I would fire all of you. I see Knesset members here whom you are constantly insulting...people want to eat their midday meal, they didn't ask for reductions. You ought to give a proper amount of food."
Albert Sahrovitz, the Knesset's manager, explained that "I also didn't expect us to find ourselves in this situation. This is not a caprice of one Knesset member or another. I apologized beforehand for any unpleasantness which might be caused."
"I am upset by the incident. Clashes over food should not occur in the state of Israel in 2017" added Sahrovitz, "but the cafeteria's condition forced us to do this renovation."
