The Tel Aviv Magistrates Court on Wednesday sentenced a Holon preschool teacher and a preschool manager to seven months in prison for abusing children in their preschool center.

The abuse was recorded on the preschool's security camera.

Three other preschool teachers who worked in the center received six months of public service.

According to the indictment, the women acted with violence towards children in their care. The violent behavior included pulling the children's hair, slapping them, stepping on their fingers, and throwing them roughly onto the naptime mattresses.

Israel Police opened an investigation after parents reported that their children were returning from preschool with bruises and displaying suspicious behavior. Some of the parents attended the court hearing and thanked the judge for the ruling.

"Justice is being done," several parents said.

In an interview with Channel 10 a few months ago, one of the preschool teachers said, "We didn't slap anyone. To say that we did so constantly, and that that's how we handled things on a regular basis, is something that I will not tolerate."

"It wasn't because we are angry people, or because we wanted to harm a child. It happened because we were working under pressure, long hours, every day. I'm not saying it's okay, but sometimes we had to pull a child's hand or foot."
