The director of the Hadassah Ein Kerem hospital, Professor Zeev Rothstein, spoke at a press conference Tuesday held together with new doctors serving at the Hemato-Oncology Unit.

Rothstein referred to tapes revealed by Channel 2 of a charged meeting between him and nurses, who warned of a crisis in the hospital.

Rothsten expressed his indignance at the secret tapes which had been leaked and claimed that all the complaints would disappear within a week. He said he was satisfied with what he had said at the meeting to nurses.

Rothstein asked the media to "let us work,we are doing the best we can to help the children." He referred to the new doctors in the ward as "very modest people who are not looking for publicity, and simply enrolled to help the children and Hadassah hospital."

Rothstein criticized the doctors who had resigned over his policies, stating that "it is difficult to accept that doctors can abandon children."

The parents of children in the ward responded by calling on Sara Netanyahu, a child psychologist, to use her influence to find a solution for hundreds of Jerusalem children who are suffering from "abuse which Helath Minister Litzman does not wish to solve." They added that the prime minister is responsible for the failures of his ministers and stated that Rothstein's words regarding the new doctors who arrived were "pathetic."
