The IDF is considering removing a fighter from the elite Maglan unit who escaped and did not seek to neutralize the attacker during a stabbing attack at the entrance to Mevo Dotan.

The soldier was stabbed last week by a 16-year-old Arab terrorist armed with a screwdriver and a knife. He ran away from the scene, a response that has earned him criticism from within the IDF.

According to the report in Israel Hayom, the soldier's commanders have not yet completed their investigation of the incident due to the fact that the soldier has been in the hospital until now, and have not yet reached a final decision in his case.

What has been known so far is that the soldier did not try to confront the terrorist but fled the scene while she ran after him. The terrorist was finally intercepted by a soldier of the battalion.

The soldier was lightly injured in the stomach and was taken to the Hillel Yaffe Hospital in Hadera. The terrorist was shot and seriously injured. She died of her wounds in the hospital several hours later.

The IDF Spokesperson stated: "After the end of the incident an operational debriefing was conducted, from which conclusions were drawn. As part of the investigation, it was found that, contrary to what was expected, not everyone present at the event acted as is required and expected of fighters in an elite unit - to neutralize the terrorist. On Sunday the soldier will return to the unit, and his commanders will conduct an investigation in which they will discuss his continued service."
