Dramatic new footage released on Wednesday shows how the armed police officers who stopped an attack by three men in London on Saturday night came close to being stabbed themselves.

The video, which surfaced on social media, shows the attackers rushing towards the officers and trying to kill them, with armed officers opening fire and shooting them dead, according to The Guardian.

The video was filmed at the Borough Market, which was targeted by the terrorists right after they drove into passengers with a van on the London Bridge.

British police have identified the three attackers as Khuram Shazad Butt, a 27-year-old British citizen born in Pakistan, Rachid Redouane, who claimed to be Moroccan-Libyan, and Youssef Zaghba, 22.

On Monday it was revealed that Butt was covered as part of a British Channel 4 documentary on jihadist activity in Britain broadcast last year.
