The Knesset and US Congress will hold a joint event celebrating 50 years since Jerusalem's liberation and reunification tonight at 9 PM Israel time (2 p.m. eastern standard time).

In the unique, first-of-its-kind event, there will be simultaneous broadcasts of both the Knesset and US Congress. At this moment, the Knesset is preparing for the live broadcast.

Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein (Likud) said,"This is a touching tribute which shows the deep friendship and excellent relationship between the US and Israel. It's a relationship which we constantly continue to invest in."

Speaking at the ceremony will be Yuli Edelstein, US House Speaker Paul Ryan, and Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. The event will be chaired by its initiator, Israeli Ambassador to the United States Ron Dermer.

Participating in the ceremony in Israel will be: Lobby for US-Israel Relations Head Nachman Shai, MK Avraham Neguise (Likud), US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman, the Association for US Immigrants to Israel, various Knesset members, US Embassy honorees, Birthright youth, and others.

On Capitol Hill, the participants will consist of US senators, members of Congress, diplomats, and leaders of the American Jewish community.

At the same time, various events celebrating 50 years since Jerusalem's reunification will be held in various locations around the United States, signifying the close connection between the two nations.

The live broadcast will begin at 9:00 PM tonight and will last for approximately 50 minutes.
