The Washington Times claims that last week\'s IDF incursion into PLO-controlled Kalkilye thwarted a massive attack on Tel Aviv\'s Azrieli Center skyscrapers. An elite army unit managed to stop a truck filled with explosives before it could be dispatched to its intended target. Security officials say that the terrorists planned to park the truck in one of the underground parking lots beneath Israel’s tallest buildings, leading to many hundreds or thousands of casualties. At least two Palestinian Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) members were arrested in connection with the attempt.

The Times report adds that officials are not ruling out the possibility that a small plane that entered Israeli airspace from Lebanon last year was on its way to crash into the towers. The plane was shot down by the Israel Air Force.
