The chief military prosecutor, Colonel Sharon Zagagi Pinchas and Lt. Col. (res.) Nadav Weissman, held a negotiation meeting Monday with attorney Yoram Sheftel, the representative of Sergeant Elor Azariya, sentenced to 18 months in prison for killing a wounded terrorist who had just stabbed IDF soldiers and was lying on the ground.
At the end of the meeting, it became clear that the gaps between the sides were still significant and substantive, and did not allow an agreement to be reached. An update of this development will be submitted to the military court of appeals.
A source familiar with the details of the meeting said that it had been conducted in an objective and matter-of-fact manner, with the aim of finding out whether there was a practical possibility of reaching agreements in the case despite the significant gaps between the parties.
