The prime minister’s office has revealed that security officials have arrested the Arab responsible for planning and directing the April 12 suicide bombing at a bus stop outside Jerusalem’s Machane Yehudah market. Six people were killed in the attack, carried out by an Arab woman, including two foreign workers from China. The bombing took place on Friday afternoon as shoppers were making last minute purchases prior to the Jewish Sabbath.
The terrorist was arrested in the course of Operation Defensive Shield, and during questioning admitted to his involvement in the attack. He was the head of a terrorist cell with links to the Fatah Tanzim, and Al-Aksa Brigade terrorist groups. The bomber had intended to detonate her device inside the market itself, but due to the security presence, she carried out the mass murder at the bus stop instead.
