Fatah leader and archterrorist Marwan Barghouti, who led a mass hunger strike of terrorist prisoners which ended this week, on Tuesday threatened to renew the hunger strike if the Israel Prison Service (IPS) fails to keep the promises it made to the terrorists.

"The strike brought the issue of the prisoners back to the forefront of politics on the international level," Barghouti said in a statement quoted by Channel 10 News. "A committee made up of senior IPS officials and representatives of the prisoners was set up and it will convene in the coming days.”

"We delayed the strike in order to provide an opportunity for dialogue, and we emphasize that we are ready for a new one if the IPS does not keep its promises," Barghouti threatened.

"We have succeeded in improving our living conditions and in solving problems that have been ongoing for years," he claimed.

The hunger strike ended when Israel reached an agreement with the Red Cross and the Palestinian Authority, allowing the PA to fund a second monthly visit so families can see their terrorist relatives more often.

While the PA claimed that 80% of the hunger strikers’ were met, security sources said the hunger strikers were not promised any demands included in Barghouti's document, which included more TV channels, a free academic degree, and longer visiting hours.

On Saturday night, Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan (Likud) emphasized that the terrorist hunger strike ended without them having received anything.

"The strike began with ludicrous and impractical demands such as placing an air conditioner in every cell, allowing prisoners to watch 20 television channels, providing newspapers and sneakers to each prisoner, providing classes for high school diplomas and academic degrees, and more," Erdan explained.

"Despite the large number of strikers, I made it very clear that we do not negotiate with terrorists. The strike ended with a clear message to arch-terrorist Marwan Barghouti and his murderous friends: We do not negotiate with terrorists," he added.
