Israel on Friday strongly condemned the severe terrorist attack in Egypt and sent the condolences of the Israeli people to President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and the Egyptian people, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s office said in a statement.
“There is no difference between the terror of the attack in Egypt and that of attacks in other countries. Terror will be defeated more quickly if all countries work together against it,” said the statement.
28 people were killed in the shooting attack on a bus carrying Coptic Christians in central Egypt. 25 others were wounded.
The bus was travelling to the Monastery of St. Samuel the Confessor, located 135 km (85 miles) south of Cairo when it came under fire, reported the BBC.
No group immediately said it was behind the attack, but the Islamic State (ISIS) has targeted Copts several times in recent months, and vowed to do so again.
In 2015, ISIS released a video purportedly showing the beheading of the Coptic Christians it had captured in the Libyan capital Tripoli.
