United Hatzalah on Friday inaugurated 180 new ambucycles (motorcycles equipped with equipment needed to provide emergency services) in a special event at Hangar 11 in Tel Aviv.
U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman, who was the guest of honor at the event, was invited by the president and founder of United Hatzalah, Eli Beer, to speak on stage.
One of the 180 ambucycles was dedicated to President Donald Trump and another was dedicated to Ambassador Friedman.
"The ambassador was surprised and truly excited,” recalled Beer. “I have known David for many years, and this is the first time that I have seen him with tears in his eyes. Ambassador Friedman has a great love for United Hatzalah. Before he was appointed the Israeli ambassador to the United States he was a member of our international board and was excited to see the organization expanding.”
“South African businessman Isy Danon, who donated both motorcycles, did so after hearing that President Trump donated four ambucycles to United Hatzalah two years ago. Danon decided to make a gesture to Trump and Ambassador Friedman," added Beer.
