At the end of the month, the presidential order that postpones the law to transfer the US embassy to Jerusalem will expire, amid heightening tension over whether Trump will sign a new order to postpone the embassy's transfer.

In recent days senior US officials have conveyed messages to their Israeli counterparts that Trump remains committed to his promise to transfer the embassy by the end of his term, even if it means signing a new order on the subject.

According to US officials, Trump intends to fulfill his promise, but patience is required from the Israeli side.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu took part this evening in the signing ceremony of an umbrella agreement in Lod. Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon, Housing and Construction Minister Yoav Galant, and Lod Mayor Yair Revivo also participated in the event.

"I delayed a bit because I came here from a meeting with the new US ambassador, David Friedman. A very good meeting. We talked about the deep friendship between Israel and the United States, and we talked about the possibilities and developments in the region and the desire for security and peace, and I told him that he could think more short-term, because the American embassy should be transferred to Jerusalem, like all the embassies."

The new US ambassador to Israel, David Friedman, presented his credentials to President Reuven Rivlin on Tuesday, saying that he received a "mandate from President Donald Trump to support Israel in any way possible."

Friedman, who landed in Israel yesterday, arrived at the President's residence with his wife and daughter. He thanked Rivlin and praised him for his efforts to strengthen the connection between the Jewish people and Jerusalem.

Later, Friedman arrived at the Prime Minister's Office and met with Netanyahu.
