The annual conference of the Pre-Military Preparatory School Council in Jerusalem will be held at the end of the month with the participation of President Reuven Rivlin, Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot, and Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat.
According to data from the Pre-Military Preparatory Council, more than 80% of graduates of pre-military academies enlist in combat service, compared to the 45% general IDF average.
The graduates of the preparatory courses also lead the way to officer's school. About 20% of preparatory course graduates go on officer's courses, three times those who did not attend preparatory schools, which is only 6%. In addition, approximately 45% of pilot's course graduates had completed a year of national Service or pre-military preparatory courses.
The data also show that in the past eight years there has been a 94% increase in youth participation in pre-military preparatory programs, of which about 47% are in mixed and secular preparatory programs.
The Pre-Military Preparatory School Council comprises 54 pre-military secular, religious, and mixed preparatory schools. About 3,500 students are educated in the preparatory classes each year.
"The vision of the pre-military preparatory program is to give rise to ethical and social leadership that will lead to significant change in Israeli society, and will be the spearhead of voluntary leadership with an ethical and humanistic outlook," organizers say.
