The United Jewish Communities (UJC) leadership met with Israeli officials in Jerusalem last Thursday to determine the spending priorities for more than $100 million raised by North American Jewry in an emergency relief campaign for Israel. The emergency campaign was launched on April 8th by UJC and the Jewish Federations of North America as a continental, grassroots response to the continuing economic, humanitarian and financial needs of Israeli citizens during the current wave of terror against the Jewish homeland.
Participating in the meeting were representatives of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC), the Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI), the Prime Minister\'s Office and the Ministry of Finance. Jodi J. Schwartz, Chair of the UJC Israel Emergency Work Group, said that Thursday’s meeting represents a \"watershed moment in the Israel-Diaspora relationship.\"
