Leah and Simcha Goldin, whose son Hadar was kidnapped and murdered during 2014's Operation Protective Edge, spoke on Sunday morning with Israeli UN Ambassador Danny Danon.
The Goldin couple asked Danon to work to correct the inequality in the United Nations, which has done nothing to ensure Hadar's body or the body of his kidnapped and murdered comrade Oron Shaul, are brought back to Israel.
Hamas has held both bodies in Gaza since the two soldiers were abducted and killed during a "humanitarian ceasefire" initiated by the UN in August 2014.
According to the Goldins, the UN's Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs' (OCHA) decision to continue providing Gaza with electricity during the coming days is not just, and the UN must demand Hamas immediately return Hadar's body, since it is a humanitarian issue.
The Goldins also said the OCHA has avoided investigating Hadar's death for the past three years, and has not worked at all to bring his body home.
"We expect Israel's UN Ambassador to work with Israel's friends in order to bring the issue up to the top of the UN's priority list," they said. "It is unthinkable that the UN agency for humanitarian issues will act with such inequality, and will refuse to demand Hadar's body be returned to Israel."
