• The IDF Spokesman says that about 5,000 weapons have been collected by the army since Operation Defensive Shield began - out of an estimated 50,000. The grassroots organization Cities of Israel calls on Prime Minister Sharon to \"complete the job and collect the illegal weapons, urgently!\"

  • Police in Ma\'aleh Adumim found much weaponry and military equipment in a Bedouin encampment during a nighttime raid. Three people were arrested, one of them a woman who hid weapons on her person. The stash, including electronic equipment, was stolen from nearby army bases and the local industrial area.

  • Israel\'s truck drivers took part in a nationwide strike today in protest of the government decision to increase the price of diesel fuel as part of its new economic initiative. The truckers used their vehicles to block the entrances to fuel depots and intersections throughout the country causing major traffic delays. The protestors claim that the rise in fuel prices will destroy the trucking industry.
