Head of IDF Intelligence Maj.-Gen. Aharon Zeevi-Farkash told the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee today that Yasser Arafat currently represents the most hard-line positions in the PLO. He said that Arafat is pleased with all developments towards internationalization of the conflict. Farkash told the Knesset committee that the isolation of Arafat in his Ramallah compound strengthened his public image on the Arab street and turned him into a symbol. He further noted that Arafat will restore his terrorist capabilities without much difficulty and that within a few months, he will be able to again launch wide-scale attacks.
