Israel Border Police on Saturday arrested a Palestinian-Arab resident of Hevron after the suspect, a man in his 20s, aroused officers' suspicion.
The Border Police arrested the suspect at a security checkpoint near the Cave of the Patriarchs (Me'arat Hamachpela).
Upon investigation, the suspect was found to have a knife hidden in the pocket of his trousers. The investigation also revealed that the suspect had passed through the same checkpoint in the morning, but without the knife.
The Border Police officers arrested him without using force and brought him for questioning.
"After the suspect arrived at the checkpoint, he was asked to remove his coat as part of the security check," Israel Border Police said. "He had done the same in the morning, but this time, when his coat was off, officers immediately noticed a knife in one of the pockets of his trousers."
