Left-leaning Israeli newspaper Ha’aretz is continuing to lose subscribers since it expressed support for reservists refusing to respond to army orders for service in Judea, Samaria, and Gaza. The director of Israel Radio canceled the gift subscriptions for all the station’s employees, as has the Prime Minister’s office. Even journalist and author Irit Linor, a well-known left-wing ideologue, sent a letter to Ha’aretz editorial staff informing it of the cancellation of her subscription to the newspaper.
“I do not want to subscribe to a newspaper,\" Linor wrote, \"that causes me to be ashamed of my Zionism, of my patriotism and of my intelligence.” She further called the newspaper pro-Palestinian, saying that the \"refusers\" are the \"flesh and blood\" of Ha\'aretz and its Schocken publishing house. Amos Schocken responded by saying that his newspaper is Zionist beyond reproach and that the editorials have expressed clear opposition to the draft-dodging phenomenon. The cancellations still stand, however.
