Interior Minister Aryeh Deri believes that there will be no indictment against Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu in any of the investigations against him.
Deri made his prediction about the Prime Minister's future during an interview with journalist Yaakov Eilon for the Walla news site.
Deri criticized those pressuring Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit to indict Netanyahu for Cases 1000 and 2000. "The facts are more or less agreed upon. All that remains is to give a legal interpretation. Why is there so much pressure on the Attorney General? I do not like it. So I say that this coalition, unlike the previous coalition, will support the Prime Minister for as long as the law allows us to. I believe that no indictment will result."
Case 1000 is a police investigation into gifts the Prime Minister and his family received, including expensive cigars and champagne. Case 2000 is an investigation into a discussion between Netanyahu and Yediot Aharonot newspaper publisher Noni Mozes in which they allegedly discuss Netanyahu's backing of legislation to harm Yediot Aharonot's main competitor, the freebie and pro-Netanyahu Yisrael Hayom, in exchange for more favorable coverage by the virulently anti-Netanyahu Yediot.
Netanyahu has denied any wrongdoing and has warned his opponents not to celebrate his downfall.
"There will be nothing because there is nothing." the Prime Minister said of the investigations.
