Samaria Regional Council Head Yossi Dagan is scheduled this week to meet senior Republican and Trump officials in the US.
Dagan has been an ardent supporter of President-elect Donald Trump, and will participate in Trump's inauguration ceremony on January 20. Previously Dagan met with David Friedman, who advised Trump on the Israeli-Arab conflict and was recently named Israel Ambassador.
On Sunday morning, Dagan said, "We hope America's new president will lead us into a new era of true friendship between Israel and the US, an era in which friendship does not force Israel to surrender its vital interests.
"We have never doubted that Israel's Prime Minister was more Zionist than the US president, but currently the US government directly influences the lives of Judea and Samaria's residents, and we need to see a change.
"In the past six years, we in Samaria have hosted many Republican figures. Today, we are happy to see many of them are senior party officials, and several are close to Trump. This strengthens the close connection between Samaria and the President-elect."
Dagan also said he hopes his own trip to the US will aid in strengthening the ties between Judea and Samaria and Trump, as well as the relations between the two countries.
