MK Aliza Lavie (Yesh Atid) told Arutz Sheva that recent poll results showing that the Yesh Atid party would win 27 seats in the Knesset if elections were held today prove that Yair Lapid will be the next Prime Minister of Israel.
Lavie also spoke of an upcoming conference in the Knesset on the content of the textbooks used in UNRWA schools.
According to Lavie, investigations have revealed that in PA textbooks, including those from schools under the management of UNRWA, there is consistent and widespread incitement against the State of Israel and the Jewish people.
Lavie cited the examples of maps depicting all of Israel as 'Palestine' and the depiction of Tel Aviv as an Arab village. She said that while Israel looks to teachers to inform and educate its young and impressionable students, PA schools are indoctrinating their students to hate Israel. "And all of this is happening under the auspices of UNRWA, an organization meant to help refugees with UN funding."
"Why does the UN have an agency only for Palestinian refugees?" Lavie wondered. "There are two refugee agencies, one for refugees from [the whole] world and one for the Palestinians? Why?" According to her, the existence of a separate organization just for one category of Arab refugees, shows the structural and institutional discrimination against Israel in the UN, as evidenced by the recent anti-Israel UN Security Council resolution.
Lavie called on the government to appoint a full-time foreign minister to deal with this problem at the UN and to bring Israel's case to the nations of the world and to the Jewish communities of the Diaspora. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu currently holds the Foreign Ministry portfolio.
Moving onto parliamentary politics, Lavie expressed confidence that Yesh Atid party leader Yair "Lapid will be the next Prime Minister." She cited recent polls showing that Yesh Atid would win 27 seats while the Likud party, which currently holds the most seats in the Knesset, would only win 23 seats.
According to Lavie, the Israeli public is becoming aware that there is an alternative to the government of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.
"We don't work [only] according to political affiliation. We work for everyone." she said. "People remember us for that."
